Incoming! Box-fresh and super slick Sam Sparro is a 24 year old offering up a delicious mix of funk, soul, electro and dance in the shape of ‘Black and Gold’ – a record that is already making this LA based internationalist white-hot property for 2008. Big news on the West Coast underground, Sam’s unique style, vocal talent, eclectic sound and savvy lyrics have already got UK tastemakers chomping at the bit.

Originally from Sydney Australia, Sam moved with his family to Pasadena at the impressionable age of 10 years old where he was first introduced to the world of gospel by his Minister father. It was at church where Sam learnt he could sing and he soon attracted a plethora of high profile admirers such as Chaka Khan who was amazed that the little white boy who went to their church could sing.

Needing no further encouragement, as soon as he was old enough Sam headed for London where he dived head long into the music scene and spent his most of his time within the walls of the Brixton Academy, Camden Palace and the Shepherds Bush Empire watching gigs before going onto The End, Fabric, house parties and warehouses in Shoreditch, all of which gave his musical influences a distinctive British edge.
