Tinchy Stryder is the stage name of Kwasi Danquah, a grime artist of Ghanian origin from Bow, East London. As well as being one of the genre's representative solo artists, referred to by Rewind Magazine as the "prince of grime", He is part of the group Ruff Sqwad.

Stryder has always been known as a talented artist, and displayed his talents across many pirate radio stations in his early teens, Deja Vu and Rinse to name a few. He became prominent in the underground scene after constantly going on radio and performing live shows with Wiley and Dizzee Rascal, who were prominent figures in grime at the time. This, along with Stryder's fierce delivery and complicated flow, gave him his early limelight. Furthermore, he was significantly younger than his Roll Deep companions.

Stryder came to prominence first in 2003, winning 'best newcomer' at the Sidewinder awards.[citation needed] Since then he has been working hard and has collaborated with many major artists in the grime genre, including two remixes with The Streets, "Fit But You Know It" and "Prangin Out". Stryder signed to independent label Takeover Entertainment during 2006. He also released two solo mixtapes, "I’m Back U Know" and "Lost and Found", and joined Ruff Sqwad for "Guns & Roses 2".

Stryder's debut album Star In the Hood was released on 13 August 2007 on Takeover Entertainment. A single "Breakaway" was released from the album, along with "Something About Your Smile", and "Mainstream Money" as a bonus track. He also released an EP named Cloud 9 on the 21st April 2008, from which the songs "Sorry, U Are?" (feat. Chipmunk,) "Sick in the Head," "16 Writers" and "Thump" have all received heavy airplay and rotation on grime shows such as Logan Sama's Kiss 100 grime show 11pm-1am on Monday evenings.

He has since released two singles which do not feature on the Cloud 9 EP, titled "Breathe," and most recently, "Stryderman." The track "Mainstream Money" was featured on an episode of Eastenders in 2008. One of his other Tracks off his debut album is called "Follow"and which was featured in the New movie "Adulthood"
