Jared Leto wins Best Supporting Actor at Screen Actors Guild awards

Jared Leto was named Best Supporting Actor at the Screen Actors Guild awards held in Los Angeles last night (January 18).

The 30 Seconds To Mars musician was honoured for his role in ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ in which he plays a transgender character called Rayon.

In his acceptance speech Leto paid tribute to victims of HIV and AIDS saying:

“Thank you to this wonderful tribe of dreamers. I'm so honoured by you today. I'm so proud that I've been able to glimpse the world through your eyes.”

Leto’s official date for the awards ceremony was his mother (pictured together below) whom he thanked in his acceptance speech:

“And to my mother, the hottest date in town, thank you for showing me the power of dreams and for being the best mother in the entire world.”

Jared Leto previously won the award for the Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Globes last week. He is nominated in the same category at this year’s Oscars which takes place on March 2.

‘Dallas Buyers Club’ was released in the US in November 2013 and can be seen in UK cinemas from February 7.
