Thirty Seconds to Mars debut new single from space and confirm new album title

Jared Leto's rock band, Thirty Seconds To Mars, debuted their brand new single live from space earlier today (March 18).

The track, entitled 'Up In The Air', was broadcast from the international space station this morning and Leto was on the phone with KROQ to talk about the exciting premiere: "My brother and I, our grandfather was in the Air Force and FAA so aviation was always a big part of our lives. We used to come visit him in Houston and always used to drive by NASA, so there’s a bit of a history there.”

He added that it was the perfect way to begin the era of their new album, too: "We thought it’s a great beginning to a long conversation that we’re going to be having with this album. It’s a nice way to start things off. It’s got a lot of energy. This is a brand new experience for us. This album is a completely new direction. It’s more than even an evolution, it’s a brand new beginning.”

Speaking about the record, called 'Love Lust Faith + Dreams', Leto explained that the words used in the title embody the themes they sing about this time around: "I think those four words all mean something very special to us. They are themes that come up repeatedly in the album. Each of those words is used at least once in every single song on the album.”

The album's cover is a piece of art by Damien Hirst, 'Isonicotinic Acid Ethyl Ester', from his 'Spot Paintings' series (shown below).
