5SOS: 'We took being at home for granted until we spent so much time away'

'Don't Stop' heartthrobs 5 Seconds Of Summer have revealed that being away from home can be really tough and it has taught them just how much they appreciate their families and the places they all grew up.

Guitarist Michael Clifford explained to a reporter before the 2014 Billboard Music Awards: "We were just home for a couple of days... when you're away for so long and you go back you really appreciate it. When we grew up... I spent a lot of time at home. You kind of take it for granted a bit. Until you go away for so long... you realise how good home is."

The lads were then asked if they get mobbed when they're in the USA and member Ashton Irwin explained that they're more well known in America than at home in Australia, but it's really nice because their fans don't overstep the mark and respect them:

"The states is one of our biggest fan bases. It's pretty crazy over here. No one knows us at home, really. Especially where we live; there's just some cows, some chickens... it's cool, though. It's such a cool thing."

5SOS, meanwhile, recently shared information about which members of the band like to call home the most and it was revealed that Clifford rings his mother often, but Calum Hood calls his mum for recipe ideas: "Calum rings his mum about spaghetti... and about how to cook spaghetti."
