5SOS score midweek UK No.1 single with 'Don't Stop'

Australian heartthrobs 5 Seconds To Summer have shot straight in at No.1 on the UK Top 40 singles chart this afternoon (June 18) during the midweek update with their latest offering, 'Don't Stop'.

The song is currently 22,000 copies ahead of its nearest competitor, which is Ella Henderson's 'Ghost' (No.2), and the lads face tough competition from her as the positions could change before they're confirmed this coming Sunday, June 22.

Elsewhere on the singles chart, George Ezra has made an appearance at No.3 with 'Budapest', Ed Sheeran's 'Sing' has dropped 2 places to No.4, and 'Here For You' by Gorgon City ft. Laura Welsh is new in at 5.

Demi Lovato is on course to score her fifth UK Top 40 single with 'Neon Lights', which entered at No.11, The Kooks' 'Around Town' is now at No.32, and Ed Sheeran's 'One' has shot up an impressive 21 places to sit at No.26.

Earlier this week, meanwhile, the 5SOS lads told a reporter in Germany that they miss the days where they would receive personal, hand-written fan mail and hope people start sending in letters again: "We used to get a lot more letters and now people just hand us bits of paper with Twitters on them and I really miss the day of the love letter. It was a better time... more emotion."
