5SOS on manufactured bands: 'Being put together wouldn’t have worked for us'

5 Seconds of Summer say they would never have worked as a manufactured band.

The Australians met during their school years and have recently enjoyed worldwide fame.

Speaking to the Mirror, the quartet suggested that their homegrown relationship gives them something extra that "manufactured" groups don't have.

Luke Hemmings said: "Our influences are more rock acts and it’s special that we’ve got that bond from school. Being put together wouldn’t have worked for us.”

Michael Clifford added: “Because we’re such good friends we keep ourselves grounded. There’s no diva behaviour...yet."

5 Seconds of Summer meanwhile said in the same interview that they don't agree with rowdy rock and roll behaviour, such as wrecking hotels.

Clifford said: "What’s the point of throwing a TV out the window if SpongeBob Squarepants could be on and we could be watching it? Or Geordie Shore? What a waste.

“I think it’s disrespectful to trash hotel rooms. The most rock and roll thing about us is how we sound."
