5 Seconds Of Summer recently stopped by the Capital FM offices and members Ashton Irwin and Michael Clifford went head-to-head to try and win a date with Little Mix beauty Jade Thirlwall. 

The band's heartthrobs Luke and Calum judged both lads' answers and they were put through a series of questions to see who most deserves the date. When asked by presenter Max what they would each make Jade for breakfast, Ashton Irwin said: 'A bowl of Kellogg's Crunchy Nut... Haha, that sounds weird. I'd put on a movie, '50 First Dates'."

Guitarist Michael Clifford then butted in with a more impressive suggestion, explaining that he would go all out: "Pancakes, English breakfast, hot chocolate, coffee... yeah. That's what it would be, everything!"

Earlier this month, Jade told Now magazine that she likes to play it cool on dates, but it's important to show your true self:

“If a guy invites you for dinner, don't say: 'Yeah definitely! Where are we going? What do you want me to wear?' Just be like: 'Yeah, I've got to find out what I'm doing...' Once you're on the date with him you can be totally yourself because he's obviously got to see what you're like.”

Today, meanwhile, is Irwin's 20th birthday and he took to his official Twitter page earlier to thank fans for their well-wishes: "Today 20 years ago I was born lol. Thanks for all the birthday wishes, love you x."
