5 Seconds of Summer lead US iTunes albums chart

5 Seconds of Summer have shot straight to No.1 on the US iTunes albums chart.

The Australians released their self-titled debut record today (July 22) in North America after a long wait.

The album had already been unleashed around Europe and other regions, with the collection selling well worldwide.

At the time of writing, the bonus track version of the record is No.1 on the US iTunes list, with the standard edition at No.2.

The album reached No.2 in the UK after it was released in June, although it peaked at No.1 in a host of other countries.

Speaking recently meanwhile about 5 Seconds of Summer's rise to fame, drummer Ashton Irwin said:

"It's been crazy. For people to actually care about the music we write is incredible and for 'She Looks So Perfect' to have done so well and for people to like it and be listening to it in their cars - it's a cool thing. We're very lucky and blessed."
