5 Seconds of Summer have revealed that they are open to writing with One Direction in the future.

However, it seems the Australians would prefer to collaborate with smaller acts if possible.

The band are supporting the 'Kiss You' group this year on tour following a successful run on the 2013 Take Me Home jaunt.

Speaking to MTV, drummer Ashton Irwin said that the band might be game for teaming up with One Direction for a song.

He said: "We might write with them at some point. If we were going to do a song it'd be with someone that's cool and up-and-coming."

Calum Hood, however, added: "'We are two completely different bands."
