5SOS reveal how they 'test' their songs

Australian pop-punkers 5 Seconds Of Summer have revealed that when they want to 'test' new songs to see if they're worthy of being released, they drive around and blast the tunes out on the speakers.

One of the band's followers tweeted a message to them and confessed that their self-titled debut album is "so good for the car", to which drummer Ashton Irwin replied that's exactly how they 'test' their new material:

"Funny you say that. To test our songs we've written we go for a drive and listen to them lol :)"

Last night, Michael Clifford took to his own social networking page and told his fans that he's tired of hearing 5 Seconds Of Summer being referred to in the press as a boy band: "Read pages and pages of why our band isn't pop punk #boybandwithinstruments #wut?? #stillgotit #areumad #wearetryingtohelpyou #ETPHONEHOME."
