5 Seconds of Summer star Luke Hemmings believes a female version of the band would be "cool".

The all-male quartet have become one of the biggest names in the mainstream music scene this year.

However, singer and guitarist Hemmings reckons that a female 5 Seconds of Summer would be an interesting idea.

He told Billboard: "A girl version of us would be cool."

Speaking meanwhile about the boyband tag often placed on the band, drummer Ashton Irwin added:

"People get confused because we’re young and we have a female fan base. But so did Fall Out Boy. Pete Wentz was the Justin Bieber of 2007. Girls loved him, they obsessed over him.”
