5 Seconds of Summer: 'We're doing a good thing for guitars'

5 Seconds of Summer believe they are representing guitar music in the mainstream.

The band have brought pop-punk influences to the charts this year, with the self-titled debut hitting No.1 in the States.

Speaking to Z100, the Australians spoke about the influence US rock trio Blink-182 have had on the group.

Ashton Irwin said: "We're not trying to replicate really what they did, we're trying to do our own thing.

"I think we're doing a good thing for guitars, and that's the main point."

The group meanwhile are currently supporting One Direction on tour in North America.
