5 Seconds of Summer drummer Ashton Irwin reached out to the band's fans after they helped the group bag their first Teen Choice Awards.

The Australians won two gongs at the showbiz awards ceremony on Sunday (August 10).

They went home with the Breakout Group and Choice Summer Music Group prizes at the event as they lost out on three other awards.

Speaking on Twitter after their wins, drummer Irwin praised the band's fans for their unwavering support, saying:

"I love you guys, thanks for everything you do for us, fighting for us, following us, and supporting the music."
