5SOS's Luke Hemmings: 'I'd come to our shows just to pick up girls'

Australian pop-punk heartthrobs 5 Seconds Of Summer have revealed that they'll never get tired of having a massive female fan base and having girls screaming at them everywhere they go.

During a new interview with America's Rolling Stone magazine, the boys were asked about their predominantly female following and admitted that it's not a bad thing and that some of the biggest bands in history started out that way.

'She Looks So Perfect' drummer Ashton Irwin told the publication: "I love how Duran Duran had the female fan base, then it grew until males started to like them too. It'd be cool even if we had a five percent male fan base."

Luke Hemmings added that one of the bonuses of having a strong female fan base is that it makes it fun for the guys who come out to their gigs and joked: "I'd come to our shows just to pick up girls."

Back in July, the superstars admitted that it would be great to date a fan as being romantically involved with someone who wasn't into their music would be a struggle: "It would be a bit awkward to be with a girlfriend who didn't love what you do. If you're into death metal that's a good reason not to like our music."
