5 Seconds of Summer's Ashton Irwin says it feels 'so frickin' good' to write new music

5 Seconds of Summer drummer Ashton Irwin says it feels good to be writing music again.

The Australians released their debut album earlier this year and it seems its follow-up is being scheduled for 2015.

The band have recently been writing new material with the likes of producer John Feldmann and Irwin took to Keek to post a video update to fans.

He said: "We've been writing and recording and it feels so frickin' good to get back in and write some new stuff. It's really exciting, we're writing with John Feldmann and our mate Roy and all of us boys were in there until late.

"Basically we've been in a room for about four days, so I'm excited to play a show."

The band are due to perform in Dallas on August 24 as support to One Direction.
