5SOS on second album: 'We don't know if it's different, but it's definitely maturing'

Australian pop-punk band 5 Seconds Of Summer have opened up about the musical direction their sophomore album is likely to take and confessed that it's an evolution of their already known sound.

The lads have made no secret about the fact that they have already started working on their debut album's follow up offering, and member Michael Clifford recently told MTV News that while their next record might not be vastly different, fans will definitely be able to hear a new sense of maturity on it.

The heartthrob explained that there is some obvious progression this time around: "I don't know if it's different. It's just maturing. Evolving... like a Pokémon."

At the end of August, drummer Ashton Irwin explained that the band have been spending time together in the recording studio where they are writing new material, and it's really exciting:

"We've been writing and recording and it feels so frickin' good to get back in and write some new stuff. It's really exciting, we're writing with John Feldmann and our mate Roy and all of us boys were in there until late. Basically we've been in a room for about four days, so I'm excited to play a show."
