5 Seconds of Summer have admitted that they are pretty "awkward".

The pop-punks have risen to global fame over the last year, but fans warm to their down-to-earth nature.

The quartet have previously revealed that they weren't popular with girls at school and it seems they are still carrying this 'awkwardness' with them.

The Australians took to Twitter today (September 3) to post a screenshot from a recent video interview at the MTV VMAs, adding:

"We are kinda awkward aren't we, not to self never watch interviews back hahahaha (sic)."

5 Seconds of Summer meanwhile are due to perform at the iTunes Festival in London on Thursday (September 4).

They will be supported at the Roundhouse gig by Charlie Simpson.
