5 Seconds of Summer win Australian MTV EMA vote

5 Seconds of Summer have reigned supreme in an MTV EMA vote to find the hottest Australian music act.

The awards ceremony have been running regional votes across the globe, with ten winners then going head-to-head in their Worldwide Act category.

It has now been confirmed that 5 Seconds of Summer beat off competition from the likes of Iggy Azalea and Sia to win the Australia section.

This means that they will face off against other winners - including the UK and Ireland's One Direction - in the worldwide category, which will be decided at the EMAs in Glasgow on November 9.

Some of the acts due to perform at the ceremony include Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran and Royal Blood.

The event will be hosted by Nicki Minaj, who is also set to perform at the show.
