5SOS recall being asked to join One Direction's tour: 'We had a serious talk with our parents'

Australian heartthrobs 5 Seconds Of Summer have reflected on the moment that changed their lives and collective career forever in a new interview with 'The Today Show'.

Frontman Luke Hemmings confessed that he remembers when they were asked to support One Direction on their 2014 arena tour and explained that it came out of the blue and caused them all to think very hard about the decision:

"We were in Adelaide and we got this piece of paper in front of us that said the One D boys want to have you on their tour of arenas next year, so we discussed it for a while. Me and Cal were 16 and 17, Ashton was 18 so we had to talk to our parents and figure out what we were going to do about school."

Guitarist Michael Clifford went onto add that it took some persuading because their parents were reluctant initially: "Our parents definitely weren't just like, 'yeah, move out of home at 16! It's fine'."
