5 Seconds Of Summer drummer Ashton Irwin has admitted his surprise at how far the band have come over the last year.

The Australian group enjoyed a massive 2014, from releasing their debut album to touring the world with One Direction.

Speaking on Twitter today (January 1), sticksman Irwin said that he is 'amazed' by the level of success attained by 5 Seconds of Summer so far.

He wrote: "I'm in absolute amazement of what myself, the band and YOU guys have achieved in 2014...How did any of this happen."

The Australians meanwhile are due to embark on a headline world tour in 2015.

They are also expected to release their second album at some point this year.
