5 Seconds of Summer's Calum Hood says some of the band's new tracks are his favourite yet.

The group released their self-titled debut album last year and it hit No.1 in the US.

Their thoughts are now focused towards their sophomore effort and Hood told fans on Twitter that they have resumed their partnership with songwriter, producer and musician John Feldmann.

It seems the fruits of their labour is exciting the Australian pop-punks, with the bassist saying:

"Wrote 2 songs at the end of last year with @JohnFeldy and theyre easily my favourite we've ever written.

"So excited for this next record!! (sic)."
