5 Seconds of Summer: 'New music will definitely be out this year'

5 Seconds of Summer star Michael Clifford insists the band will release new music this year.

The group have been busy over the last couple of months creating the follow-up to their 2014 self-titled debut record.

Speaking to Billboard, Clifford said that progress is going well, adding that fans should expect to hear new tunes later this year.

He said: "We've written most of it, and we're recording it now. We'll release it when it's right, whether it's on the tour or at the end of the tour.

"New music will definitely be out this year."

Luke Hemmings meanwhile said that the Madden Brothers are having a strong influence on songwriting. He added:

"They've had a big role in the album this time, even more so than the last album.

It's been really fun. We really look up to them, their whole movement as a band. It's amazing they're on board with us. They're great dudes."
