5SOS's Luke Hemmings reveals his band's inspiration for their current stage show

5 Seconds Of Summer frontman Luke Hemmings has opened up about his band's current tour and revealed their inspiration behind the stage show.

Speaking to the Rolling Stone magazine, the heartthrob explained that they wanted to create a "rock band show" complete with stadium-style lighting and drum riser:

"We played a similar show at the Forum last year. We basically wanted to make a theatre show with theatre lighting on a larger scale. It's not too gimmicky. We have a really cool stage with a drum lift that Ashton [Irwin] is on. It's got a little runway. It's kind of like a band stage but with heightened quality. It's an arena-level theatre show. That's the best way to describe it — it's just a rock band show."

Hemmings, meanwhile, recently told his followers on Twitter that he's suffering with laryngitis: "A French doctor told me I have laryngitis, currently eating chicken alphabet soup." 5SOS resumed their tour this evening with a concert in Dublin, Ireland.
