5SOS on songwriting: 'It takes time to write from your heart'

Ashton Irwin, of 5 Seconds Of Summer fame, has revealed that writing music is something that can be done at any age, but the more experience you have the better the material seems to be.

During a new interview with Rolling Stone magazine, the band's drummer confessed that their songwriting has really matured and strengthened over time:

"The first thing we realized as a band when we started writing songs at 15, 16 is that you can write a song, but to write a real song that's from your heart, and that really connects with you emotionally and spiritually, that takes time."

5SOS will release their highly anticipated second studio album, entitled 'Sounds Good Feels Good', on October 23 and the record has already topped the iTunes chart in many countries since becoming available for pre-order.
