John Feldmann on 5SOS: 'I'm constantly impressed by them'

Australian pop-punk band 5 Seconds Of Summer are no strangers to working with Goldfinger star John Feldmann, and the producer has now likened the lads to 'family' in a new interview with the Rolling Stone.

Feldmann explained that he is always surprised by the boys' approach to music and dedication to improving their skills, and added that it's an honour to be involved with their collective career:

"The 5SOS guys are family. When it came time to make the next album, [working with them again] was a no-brainer."

"Calum has perfect the lost art of using his pick to get the real grit out of the string of the bass, and Ashton took time to study the technique of playing drums, which most drummers don't typically do. I am constantly impressed by their strong work ethic in the studio. It's wouldn't sound like 5SOS without each of them. Michael has his dark, emo side, whereas Luke has this really pop-punk hooky sound of guitar playing. When you put them together, they really complement each other."

Feldmann also shared a really touching Instagram post with his followers this evening (pictured below), in which he revealed how thankful he is to be making music with such talented artists. Referring to 5SOS, he wrote: "What a gift to wake up seeing a band that has worked so hard writing/touring/promoting music that's real and connecting with so many people."

He added: "These guys have done this on their own terms writing their own music playing their own instruments singing their own words. I am honored and proud to be included in their journey. These guys have earned and deserve all the success they have. Gives me a boner that rock and roll music with live instruments have the #1 @itunes song/video/album. Today is an important day in music. @5sos
