5SOS talk about the process for creating music videos

'She's Kinda Hot' heartthrobs 5 Seconds Of Summer have opened up about the process behind creating a music video and revealed that visual ideas come at different times for different tracks.

Frontman Luke Hemmings told Variety magazine that it differs from song to song and there's no set method for coming up with a video concept:

"It depends. Sometimes you’re writing a song and you have an image whilst writing a song. I don’t think you ever base a songwriting process around a video, but when you’re writing a song sometimes it’ll be a very visual song."

Drummer Ashton Irwin added that he gets inspired for video ideas when they're talking about the message they want to convey to fans: "I think the video ideas come from when we get toward the campaign, sort of at the end of the writing process. You want to convey a message to your fans. Here at 5 Seconds of Summer, we love making videos with actual messages. We’re not into shallow videos."
