5SOS: 'Kids covered their ears when we supported One Direction'

5 Seconds Of Summer made their debut appearance on Alan Carr's 'Chatty Man' talk show on Friday night (October 9) and they joked about opening for One Direction on the boyband's tour a while ago.

Drummer Ashton Irwin told the show's host that he could see kids covering their ears in the audience because their music was vastly different from the 'Story Of My Life' heartthrobs' material:

"So yeah we came over here, supported one of your home-growns, One Direction, and we weren't too sure about that at the beginning, because they were like a boy band, and we were worried the kids would be a little scared of guitars and we were loud and we kind of sucked at the time. We would go to the concerts and some kids would be covering their ears."

As previously reported, the 5SOS stars also revealed that Luke Hemmings's mother Liz saw 1D's Harry Styles naked backstage. Michael Clifford explained that Styles was riding a Segway without any clothes on and accidentally rode right into the path of Mrs. Hemmings:

"The worst part was that Luke's mum was standing right there, and he comes in on the Segway, just butt naked. He comes in on the Segway, sees Luke's mum and turns around."
