5SOS on speaking to youth: 'We can reach out to them as we're their age'

'She's Kinda Hot' rockers 5 Seconds Of Summer have revealed that they're being very mindful about the kinds of things they write songs about now that they're an established band with such a huge platform.

During an interview with Australia's Daily Telegraph, the heartthrobs explained that it's important to them to use their fame as a way to reach out to people that might be going through difficult things they have also experienced personally:

"The band got big so quickly off the first album and we went and looked at our own issues individually, the fans’ issues and we said we need to put on our thinking caps and think about what we are singing and expressing."

"We can create a bigger voice than any media outlet, and to people our age, I think we can speak the truth better than anyone else can. That’s where we want to go with this band.”

Frontman Luke Hemmings went onto add: “The New Broken Scene isn’t this big sad thing where everyone is sad. It is a positive thing to me, that’s why we called the album 'Sounds Good Feels Good'.”
