5SOS: 'It's taken 4 years to stand up for ourselves in the media'

'She's Kinda Hot' superstars 5 Seconds Of Summer have revealed that they are glad to finally be talking about real issues and things that genuinely matter in the world's press.

During a new interview with The Guardian, the boys explained that it's nice to finally be in a position where they are being respected by the industry to the point where they feel comfortable refusing to answer questions that don't matter. Ashton Irwin said:

"We've been in this band for four years and it's taken four years for any media outlet to come to us and say, 'Hey, I'd like to talk about some real s**t,' instead of who our favourite Disney princesses are. If you want to succeed, you can't make music to please a few people. I want to make music that feels good for everyone, and that everyone can understand."

Frontman Luke Hemmings added that their forthcoming new album, entitled 'Sounds Good Feels Good', will reflect their own realities a little more: "The first album was written over the course of a couple of years while we were supporting One Direction on tour. It was us trying to figure out exactly who we were as a band. For this second album, which was written in about three months, we knew exactly who we were and what we wanted to do."
