5SOS: 'We're all susceptible to everyone's opinion online every day'

Pop-punk hitmakers 5 Seconds Of Summer will release their new album 'Sounds Good Feels Good' tomorrow (October 23) and they have a good way figured out to gauge if the record is doing what they want it to.

Speaking to Today, which is an Australian breakfast show, drummer Ashton Irwin confessed that he and the other lads will know they've succeeded with this record if their fans feel positively influenced by it:

"I feel like, you ask people 15 years ago what their issues were, people who were at school and stuff like that, it's like who you're gonna kiss on the weekend or what movies they're gonna see. Now, it's like depression, anxiety, and everything else awful because we're all susceptible to everyone's opinion online every day. If we affect people in a positive way at all, that's our job done."

Irwin shared a tweet earlier this week with his fans that stressed the importance of their connection to it: "I feel as though we've done 1 million interviews the past month. But the main thing and the people who I want to understand what we are doing is you! We made this album with our hearts, memories, hopes and dreams, and we want you to listen to every lyric, every melody, and chord."
