5SOS can't wait for the AMAs: 'It will be a really special show'

Aussie pop-punk band 5 Seconds Of Summer will perform at the American Music Awards later tonight and drummer Ashton Irwin has revealed that they're all really looking forward to it.

Speaking about playing live at the ceremony, which will take place this evening at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, Irwin explained that it's a special event and he's very excited to take the stage there:

“It’s obviously a cultural thing – the American Music Awards is special to Americans. The fans come, and they come to see the bands, and it’s just a place where all the artists can collaborate and meet each other. I actually think this is the only music awards show where I get to meet people.”

A tweet was shared from the AMAs' account earlier this week that teased the lads' set:  "THE WALLS ARE SHAKING AT #AMAs REHEARSALS. Must be @5SOS getting ready for their performance this Sunday! #5SOSonAMAs."
