Australian heartthrobs 5 Seconds Of Summer have revealed that trying to stay away from things that might get them branded a 'joke band' is quite tough because there are so many fun things they could do where branding and merchandising are concerned. 

When asked by reporters on the red carpet of the recent AMAs if they're going to make a 5SOS sauce, drummer Ashton joked that the project is a work in progress: "We're working on the marketing..."

"We were actually going to do it, but... we always say this thing that we're not a joke band, and we keep doing things that make us a joke band!" Luke Hemmings added: "I think 5 Sauce wouldn't help that!"

As previously reported, the band were also asked about the level of fame they've achieved and Irwin said that it's something they still can't get their heads around:

"No. I always say to Luke I don't think we'll be able to process what's happening to our band until we're like 40. We just work hard. We work as hard as we can, we don't sleep in too much, and we just get stuff done. We try to see as many people as we can, we try and write great music, and we try and make our performances as good as they can be. Those are the main things this band focuses on."
