5SOS star on writing new songs: 'I love how they're sounding'

5 Seconds of Summer drummer Ashton Irwin says he is pleased by the progress of the band's latest songwriting sessions.

The group got together at the weekend to strum out new tunes, despite only releasing their last album 'Sounds Good Feels Good' in October.

In a new video posted on Twitter on Monday (February 1), Irwin said he is digging the sound of the new material.

He said: "We're back into writing this week. We wrote some songs over the weekend.

"I love how they sound, and that's exciting. We're just trying a bunch of new stuff out."

5 Seconds of Summer meanwhile are due to perform on James Corden's Late Late Show on Thursday (February 4).

They will then embark on their Sounds Live Feels Live world tour from mid-February.
