5SOS: 'We're constantly forced to push ourselves out of our comfort zones'

Aussie pop-punk band 5 Seconds Of Summer are no strangers to travelling the world now and they opened up about what keeps them motivated to keep going in a recent interview with MYX Philippines.

Frontman Luke Hemmings admitted that being on the road is something that always inspires them because the experience of travelling is so enriching:

"Touring new places... that keeps me inspired. Being on the road all the time, that helps. Meeting new people, like, seeing new fans. We meet so many new people everyday and (on tour) you have to make an effort to go outside and see where you are, especially when you're in a new place and you haven't been there before. It's hard not to be inspired when you're not in the same place for nine months of the year!"

Drummer Ashton Irwin then added: "We're constantly forced to push ourselves out of our comfort zones, you know? Everyday we experience a new culture and new people. We need to really pay attention to detail and show what we're about, as well as learn as much as we can in just a few short days about where we are."

Irwin also explained that making sure the fans know that they care about them and that they appreciate the cities they're performing in each night is important: "We're affecting a lot of people - there's going to be 10,000 people here tonight and they need to know that we really do care about them and where they're from."
