5 Seconds of Summer star Ashton Irwin believes musicians and entertainers have more "people power" than politicians.

The Australian made the comment as Democratic National Convention was held in Philadelphia on Monday (July 25).

The drummer encouraged people all over the world to exercise their democratic right and vote in elections.

Irwin said: "Musicians, entertainers, people, holding truth in their hearts have bigger social media/people power then these politicians: remember that.

"WE are the ones with the voice now, you gotta vote, you gotta step up. Express what you know is right."
