Debbie Harry “could’ve been Madonna”

Blondie frontwoman Debbie Harry thinks that if she had been more driven then she could have “been Madonna”.

In an interview with Q Magazine the ‘Rapture’ singer spoke of how she realised there was a huge difference in ambitions between her and the Queen of Pop when they crossed paths at the latter’s birthday party.

“Did I ever meet her? Yes,” explained Harry. “I worked with Mary Lambert [directed Madonna’s ‘Like A Virgin’ and ‘Material Girl’ videos] on my hit ‘I Want That Man’ video. She took me to Madonna’s birthday party. But we are from totally different ways of thinking.”

She added: “She is so totally career-orientated and showbiz-minded. I missed the boat on that one. If I had thought more I would probably have been Madonna before she was.”

Ray Davies “won’t read” brother’s abuse

Singer Ray Davies has revealed that he refuses to read a recent interview with his brother Dave Davies – in which the guitarist accused his sibling of being vain, mean and greedy – because it will upset him.

The fiery feud between former Kinks bandmates and brothers Ray and Dave Davies is one that far precedes the Gallagher rows. However, despite being quick to badmouth each other in the press, the Davies bros are also careful to profess their brotherly love. Even after describing Ray in such a way, Dave had added: “[But] I won't have anybody call him that except me. Because I love him to death."

In an interview in today's Observer, Ray is asked about his brother’s words and responds with similarly bittersweet sentiments, saying: “He's more grounded than me, but in other ways… he's out there with the fairies."

He then added: "I won't read the piece you mention, though, because I'll get upset."

JLo’s water and sleep regime

Jennifer Lopez has revealed that her perfect skin is not the result of expensive facials, but rather a product of simple relaxation and hydration – and perhaps the odd moisture mask.

The singer insists that her skincare regime is very minimal, saying to Company Magazine: "I try to get enough good sleep, about seven or eight hours and I drink a lot of water.

"I don't have facials or treatments. I don't like messing with my face or my skin too much. I don't do scrubs or peels or anything like that, I just do the basics. I use moisture masks a lot though.

"If I have a red-carpet event, I'll do a face mask in the morning. And I'll take a nice bath to relax myself because I think the better you feel, the better you look. Then I'll have a coffee and take the day slow. I don't like to rush."

Kasabian reveal album details

Kasabian have let slip a few details about their upcoming fourth album.

The band has been recording at British Grove studios in London with producer Dan the Automator, who also worked on their previous record ‘West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum’.

Speaking to Q Magazine, singer Tom Meighan revealed several titles of songs that will be appearing on the new album including: ‘Switchblade Smile’, ‘Neon Noon’, ‘Goodbye Kiss’, ‘I Hear Voices’, ‘Shelter From The Storm’ and ‘Velociraptor’. The latter in particular, Meighan described as “mega punk fucking aggression. Totally off the wall, but you know it’s us.”

Guitarist Serge Pizzorno added: “Listening to the songs makes you feel great. Get your fucking jacket on, whack your fucking shoes on. It makes you believe things are going to happen.”

The record is expected out later this year. In the meantime, check out Kasabian performing at last summer’s T in the Park Festival:

Suede writing 80s music

Suede frontman Brett Anderson has revealed that the recently reunited band is back in the studio and recording songs inspired by early 80s tunes.

Seven years after they originally disbanded, Suede came together again for a series of reunion shows last year. The group previously said that they had no plans to write new material, but Brett Anderson has confirmed that they are indeed writing again.

He said to Q Magazine: "We have started to write. It's early days but it's sounding interesting - we've been listening to alternative music from the early 80s that's filtering through."

However, the singer also told fans not to hold their breath over the new material, saying that it may not even be released.

He explained: "It's absolutely true that it might not be released. We don't have any record companies banging on the table saying, 'We must put a record out next March' or something like that.

"We're literally doing it for our own pleasure and we're writing for fun. If it turns out, great, then people hear it. If it doesn't, there's no desire to release a sub-standard Suede record just because we feel like we should release one. I'm not sure it'd leave the legacy intact."

Jennifer Hudson's fiance wants weight-loss to stop

Singer and actress Jennifer Hudson has revealed that her fiancé David Otunga has told her to stop slimming after she shed 80 lbs.

With the help of WeightWatchers, Hudson has dropped four dress sizes in less than two years, but it seems that not everyone loves her new look.

She said: "I haven't actually caught up with how I look. Some people don't like it so much and tell me to stop.

"My fiance tells me not to lose more - he likes me very basic, no make-up, no heels, no fuss. I think both of us are still struggling to come to terms with this new me. He'll tell me not to dress up, but I tell him to get used to it."

She added: "Honestly, I want to stay at this weight. I don't want to lose any more.

"I'm more concerned with not losing more (than gaining). If I stick with the Weight Watchers plan then I'll have no problem. I think I'll be this size for the rest of my life."
