AIM’s next event, taking place at City Hall in London on 17th January 2018, will celebrate the successes and examine the challenges of women in the music industry.  In association with INgrooves and supported by the Mayor of London, the tenth annual AIM Women in Music event will feature a stellar line-up of speakers.

Women In Music 2018 will give women (and men, who are actively encouraged to attend) the opportunity to network with key industry figures and to hear from some of the music industry’s most influential women.  This year the keynote artist interview will be with solo artist and former Spice Girl Melanie C, who will speak candidly with Music Week Editor Mark Sutherland about her career in music and current success as an independent artist. There will also be a keynote address entitled ‘Diversity is Good For You’ from UK Music Diversity Taskforce Co-Chair Paulette Long OBE (Westbury Music).

Following the keynotes there will be a panel entitled Women in The Studio, which will see a selection of Producers, Engineers, Mixers and Songwriters discuss the rarity of women in studio roles and how they have built their careers in a notoriously male-dominated sector. Speakers include Steph Marziano (Producer & Engineer, Denai Moore, Mumford & Sons & others), Dr Mariana Lopez (Lecturer in Sound production & Post Production, University of York), Isabel Gracefield Grundy (Engineer, Emeli Sande, Tom Odell & others), Marta Salogni (Mixer, Bjork, Sampha & others), Kate Tavini (Mastering Engineer & host of Red Bull’s #NormalNotNovelty engineering workshop), Katia Isakoff (Founder, Women Produce Music) and panel chair K-Minor (producer, artist).

The final session of the evening will be Female Entrepreneurship in Music, and will see a selection of female music business founders discuss how and why they established their own company and how they’ve achieved success. Speakers include: Barbara Charone (MBC PR), Abi Leland (Leland Music), Hannah V (Producer/Artist), Annette Barratt (Reservoir Media) and chair Amy Lamé (London Night Tzar).

The event will be held from 5.30-10pm on 17th January 2018 at London’s Living Room, City Hall, The Queen’s Walk, London, SE1 2AA. This prestigious venue has spectacular views of the Thames and London Bridge, and is home to the Mayor of London.

This event is open to anyone working in the music and entertainment industries, book here.

AIM actively encourages men to attend this event. Gender equality in the music industry is good for everyone and requires the participation and support of both sexes.

Tickets are £33 for AIM members, £55.50 for non-members. VAT and Refreshments are included in the price.

For a decade AIM has been active in championing and encouraging women in music, striving to achieve gender equality and diversity across the music business. In addition to the annual AIM Women in Music conference, AIM is a partner and co-founder on the Music Week Women in Music Awards, and a signatory on UK Music’s Equality and Diversity Charter, which calls on music businesses to take simple, practical steps to improve equality and diversity.
