Adam Levine on fame: 'Your vices become magnified'

Maroon 5 heartthrob Adam Levine has likened his character in new movie 'Begin Again', in which he plays a musician named Dave, to himself on his journey to fame.

In a new interview with People magazine, the star explained that when you're on the rise to superstardom it's common to find yourself surrounded by temptation and it's very easy to get lost or caught up in that, which is why he identified so much with the character:

"This guy was me at a certain point. He's about to be lost and is losing it. Granted, it wasn't the same experience. But all of a sudden you have much more at your disposal - girls, money, alcohol, whatever. Your vices become magnified. You get to the edge of a cliff, and if you jump off you're screwed. I've been so blessed. Thank God for my family and friends who supported me."

He also went onto add that despite starring in the film alongside Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo, he wasn't really nervous: "I wouldn't say I was nervous. I was actually really excited. I had a lot to prove, so I had to pretend like I knew what I was doing. I was also really busy, so I didn't have time to stew in my own insecurities."
