Adam Levine to perform live at the Oscars

Maroon 5 heartthrob Adam Levine has just announced that he has been asked to perform at the 2015 Oscars, which is due to take place on February 22 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. 

Writing on his official Twitter page this afternoon (January 26), the singer explained that he will be performing 'Lost Stars', which is from the movie 'Begin Again', because it has been nominated in the Best Original Song category:

"So...I'll be singing at the #OSCARS!!! Whaaaat??!?!? Thank you @theAcademy! #LostStars."

Competition for the Best Original Song prize is tough this year and also nominated is 'Glory' from the new film 'Selma', 'I'm Not Gonna Miss You' from the documentary 'Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me', 'Everything Is Awesome' from 'The Lego Movie', and 'Grateful' from 'Beyond The Lights'. 

Maroon 5, meanwhile, also shared a tweet celebrating Levine's exciting news and wrote: "Congratulations @adamlevine for being asked to sing #LostStars at the #Oscars! Thank you @Theacademy!"
