Adam Levine lashes out at MTV VMAs

Sufficed to say, Adam Levine will not be attending Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles.

The Maroon 5 frontman and NBC's The Voice judge, took to Twitter on Saturday (August 27) to voice his disapproval of the network, which he believes has strayed from the original mission.

Levine wrote: "the VMA's. one day a year when MTV pretends to still care about music. I'm drawing a line in the sand. fuck you VMA's."

Later on he wrote: "still waiting to have my 'jerry macguire mission statement moment of deep regret...' not happening. phew!"

Finally: "i may be a pop singer. but every once in a while the angsty teenager in me just blurts out some raw honesty. it's a reflex."

MTV tweeted back at Levine and said: “Soooo you'll be tuning in at 9/8C tomorrow right? BTW, bonus points if you TwitPic your 2004 Moonman!”

Levine recently hit out at the bosses of American Idol, criticising what he perceived as their policy on openly gay contestants.
