Adam Levine: 'Acne made me so depressed'

Maroon 5 heartthrob Adam Levine has revealed that he wasn't always a good-looking man and suffered from acne while he was a teen at school.

Speaking to Access Hollywood about his high school experience, the 'She Will Be Loved' singer confessed that it wasn't easy and the skin problem also really knocked his confidence:

"When I was in high school and I had acne, I spent a lot of time sulking in my room. I was depressed. I was not happy. High school is hard enough, but having this problem and knowing that everyone is looking at you in the hallways... and I went to a small school and clearly nobody has acne like I did."

He added that even now, at 34-years-old, he still takes extra care with his skin and ensures to use products that will help to keep it clear: "I still use [acne cream] Proactiv+. Dealing with [bad skin] is an important thing because you will probably be able to be a little happier."

"Everyone is insecure to a certain point extent. I'm not made of steel. Things can bother me about my appearance all the time and they do."
