Alexandra Burke to perform film soundtrack at London residency

Alexandra Burke has announced that she will perform a number of gigs in London later this year.

The X Factor 2008 winner will hit the Royal Albert Hall for a small batch of shows between June 4-8.

She will play the soundtrack of 1972 movie Lady Sings The Blues, which was based on the life of Billie Holiday.

Burke, who will perform with a jazz band in the Royal Albert Hall's Elgar Room, said of the announcement:

"I am so excited to be performing these concerts in such an iconic venue. It is an honour to be able to sing Billie Holiday's songs and I feel a very strong emotional attachment to them.

She continued: "Music is my life and I love doing different and surprising things, so I can't wait to get on stage and sing these amazing and timeless songs."

Tickets meanwhile for the shows are due to go on sale from 9am UK time on March 27.
