Alexandra Burke has admitted her shock at JLS's confirmation that they will break up.

As previously reported, the British boyband announced this morning (April 24) that they would be splitting at the end of the year.

They will release a greatest hits album and a new single before embarking on a farewell tour in December.

Speaking in a series of messages on Twitter, Burke - who beat JLS to win the X Factor in 2008 - said that she was left emotional and confused by the news. The singer said:

"I'm speechless at my boys deciding to spilt. I honestly don't think it's that time for them. They have so much more to achieve...I have tears in my eyes as I type this. My love for @JLSOfficial is unreal. I will always support them and I wish them all the best...."

Burke concluded: "Their talent speaks for itself...They will all go on to amazing things in life. Love you my bothers @JLSOfficial xx."
