Ariana Grande cancelled her performance at the Roots Philly, 4th of July Jam, to be with her sick grandfather in Florida.

Scheduled to appear alongside Prince, Ed Sheeran, Nicki Minaj and Jennifer Hudson, Grande spent the day at a hospital bedside instead.

The singer tweeted: "NY I'm sorry u saw less of me this trip. off to the g-parents in FL. they need me & now I gotta be there. love u & thank u for understanding.” 

Following on from that initial tweet, Grande then put up a series of tweets and photos of her grandfather lying in a hospital bed, and thanked her fans for their understanding and support.

Grande recently revealed how she came about songwriting with One Direction's Harry Styles, and that he is an amazing writer.
