Ariana Grande: 'I once accidentally sang to old people about dying, it was so terrible!'

'Break Free' songstress Ariana Grande has revealed that she once performed a song to pensioners in an old people's home that featured lyrics about death and it was too late to change them because she didn't realise until halfway through the rendition.

When asked by Alan Carr on his 'Chatty Man' TV show if there's any truth in the rumour that suggests she was kicked out of an old people's home for singing inappropriate songs, Grande explained that it's not entirely accurate although there was an incident that involved distasteful lyrics:

"No! Here’s the actually story – when I was younger, my friends and I started a group called ‘Kids Who Care’ and we sang at different country clubs in Florida where we all grew up, and we would raise money for different organisations and charities, and we would donate the money to various causes."

"But one time, we did a performance which was at an old age home – we didn’t get kicked out, but we had this weird moment when we were singing – you know ‘You Are What You Own’, from 'Rent'? – you get to the after the bridge part, and the lyrics change from ‘you’re living in America’ to ‘you’re dying in America’, and there’s a bunch of 90 year olds, and we had this moment where we all sort of looked at each other like ‘oh s**t’ [sings] ‘you’re dying in America’. We’re like ‘thank god they can’t hear us, this is terrible!’ but it was fine, they were just like ‘oh look, cute young people, singing’."

Her full interview with Carr will air later tonight (October 10) in the UK on Channel 4.
