Vocal sensation Ariana Grande will be awarded the 2014 Billboard Rising Star award on December 12 in New York City and she has revealed that it's something that means a lot to her, especially because she came from a 'child star' background.

Speaking to Billboard about the honour, the 'Love Me Harder' beauty admitted it's amazing because it feels as though it has taken a long time for people to take her seriously as an artist: 

"It just happened so quickly. This year I was really taken seriously as an artist, and it's sort of blown my mind."

Back in November, Grande told her fans that being given the Rising Star prize is overwhelming and incredibly rewarding: "To be recognised alongside some of the most influential women in the music business is such an incredible honour. Receiving the 'Rising Star' award is truly amazing and I'm extremely grateful!"
