Ariana Grande: 'I never thought I 'slayed' at singing'

'Dangerous Woman' sensation Ariana Grande has revealed that she never thought she was exceptionally talented at singing and it was her mother, Joan, who noticed her vocal skills.

During a new interview with BBC Radio 1, the beauty explained that she was singing in the car when her mother asked her to backtrack and repeat the verse again:

"I think it was one time I was singing in sync in the car with my mom. I was really young... it was something where Jay Z had a high riff at the end and my mom was like, 'hold on' and she rewound it and was like 'hold on can you do that again?' And I was like 'yeah sure' and my mum was like, 'well you have a really good voice.'"

She continued: "When I was little, I don't think I ever had that thought 'I slay at singing' but I think my mom, she is like a CEO and does her own thing, but she encouraged us to sing and she loves music. My dad will always sing karaoke and my brother (Frankie) was into musical theatre and I've always been surrounded by music, so I didn't think it was weird to be a singer or sing."
