Austin Mahone has spoken about meeting One Direction.

The US star told HollywoodLife that he bumped into the British-Irish boyband whilst at the MTV VMAs in 2013.

It seems singer Niall Horan took a particular shine to his footwear as they mingled backstage.

Mahone said: "Last VMAs I performed on the pre-show. I was back and getting ready for my performance and One Direction walks in. I see Niall and he saw my shoes and he was like, 'Oh man, those are the sickest shoes I have ever seen'.

"And he was obsessed with my shoes and couldn't stop looking at them, so I thought that was pretty cool."

Mahone meanwhile has recently been on tour with The Vamps in North America.
