Austin Mahone: 'People assume I'll be a one-hit wonder because I'm so young'

Singer Austin Mahone has revealed that he doesn't want the public to judge him based on his age and instead wants to prove his worth by releasing material that will have the kind of appeal to keep him around and on the scene for a long time.

During a new interview with USA Today, the 18-year-old heartthrob explained that people see him and assume that because he's young, he'll have a few successful singles and will then disappear: "Whenever people see me, I'm a young dude and I sing, and I feel like they're just like, 'Oh, there's just another teen pop star. He's going to have a few songs.'"

Mahone went onto add that he doesn't want to be a one-hit wonder and have a short-lived career, and is working hard to have some kind of longevity:

"But I want to be more than that. I want to grow, I want to challenge myself to be better and to be different. I want people to know I'm in it for the long run, so you better get used to me."
